One of the best season’s in Westlake history ended Wednesday night after a loss to Toledo Notre Dame Academy in the regional semifinal. I want to thank everyone that has visited the blog this season. It has been such a great experience covering the team and meeting so many new people. Best of luck to the five incredible seniors, they have left a lasting legacy.

Westlake vs. Amherst

Gina Adams scored 25 points and Abby Carrington added 21 as Westlake won the Elyria district championship on Friday night. This is the Lady Demons first district title since the 2015-16 season. Abby Carrington and Summer Salem made back-to-back 3-pointers in the third quarter to extend the lead. Hot shooting from Faith Lewis kept Amherst in the game until the Lady Demons pulled away in the fourth quarter.

Westlake vs. North Ridgeville

The Lady Demons defeated North Ridgeville on Tuesday night and advanced to play 5th seeded Amherst Steele in the district finals on Friday. A balanced scoring attack from seniors Abby Carrington, Stephanie Randar and Gina Adams helped the Demons get out to a big lead. North Ridgeville made a spirited comeback attempt but Westlake made their free throws down the stretch to seal the victory.

Westlake will play for it’s first district championship since the 2015-16 season. The game will be Friday night at 7:45pm at Elyria Catholic High School.

Westlake vs. Lorain

The Lady Demons kicked off the postseason with a 57-33 win over #7 Lorain on Thursday night. In their final home game seniors Abby Carrington scored 18 points, Gina Adams scored 16 points and Stephanie Randar scored 10 points. Lorain proved to be a challenging opponent but the Westlake full-court press was too much for them to handle and the Lady Demons took control in the 4th quarter.

Westlake vs. Amherst

The Lady Demons defeated Amherst 34-20 to finish the season 17-1 in the SWC and became co-Champions with Olmsted Falls. This is the eighth conference title in Lady Demons history and the first since 2016. Gina Adams was the leading scorer with 17 points in the hard fought victory.

Westlake used a smothering defense and contributions from eight different players on offense to get a 59-18 win over North Ridgeville on Saturday. Christina Zkiab led the Lady Demons with 11 points including three 3-pointers. With the win Westlake improves to 16-1 in the SWC.

Westlake got another big road win over third place Avon on Wednesday night. The Demons led by as many as 19 points before Avon mounted a furious comeback in the second half. Katie Whitesell scored a season-high 16 points and Abby Carrington added 18 as the Lady Demons secured the victory, their 10th straight conference game.

It took overtime but the Lady Demons came away with a 52-46 win over Berea-Midpark on senior night. In the extra session senior Abby Carrington scored the first five points including a huge 3-pointer. Senior Stephanie Randar came down with big offensive rebounds and senior Gina Adams finished the game with 21 points.

The Demons survived another tough SWC road matchup with a 44-34 win on Wednesday night. Avon Lake got out to an early 12-4 lead but 3-point shooting by Gina Adams and Emma Hall got the Lady Demons back in the game. Westlake’s zone defense kept the Shoregals from ever regaining the lead.
